Goznak coins are among the best coins of the world! 23.01.2020
The results of the 13th International Competition “Coin Constellation 2019” have been summed up. More than 220 coins put into circulation since January 1 until December 31, 2018 have participated in it.
“Coin Constellation” is the only international coin competition held in Russia. The leading mints of the world, national and commercial banks and coin distributing companies take part in it.
33 participants representing 22 countries including the Bank of Russia, the Saint Petersburg and the Moscow Mints – Branches of Goznak, The National Bank of the Republic of Belarus, the Central Bank of Hungary, the Bank of Israel, the Bank of Latvia, the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic, the National Bank of Poland, the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Central Bank of Armenia, the Hungarian Mint, the Italian State Mint, the Kazakhstan Mint, the Royal Mint of Australia, the Royal Mint of the Netherlands, the Royal Mint of Canada, the Polish Mint, the Czech Mint, the Federal Mint of Switzerland, the Lithuanian Mint, the South African Mint, the Royal Mint of Belgium and other well-known coin emitters and manufacturers, submitted requests to “Coin Constellation 2019” Competition.
Experts from well-known world museums and auction houses, representatives of numismatic associations and specialized professional editions about coins were members of the international jury.
Four coins produced at the Saint Petersburg and Moscow Mints held places of honor in various categories.
“200 years since the foundation of the Expedition of Storing State Papers” coin submitted by the Saint Petersburg Mint became the best in the “Silver coin of the Year” category.
In this category the jury evaluated the topic sophistication, the design, the artistic execution, the manufacturing quality of the silver coins.
The coin was made of silver of the 925th standard in “proof” quality. Its face value is 25 roubles, the total weight is 169.00 g and the diameter is 60.00 mm. The coin was struck in the number of 1000 pieces. The authors of the coin sketch were artists of the Design Center of Goznak Elena Kramskaya (obverse) and Anton Schablykin (reverse), the sculptors – Alexandra Dolgopolova (obverse) and Alexander Bessonov (reverse).
[“The 100th anniversary of the all-Russian Synod of 1917-1918 and reconstruction of patriarchate in the Russian Orthodox Church” submitted by the Bank of Russia and produced at the Saint Petersburg Mint occupied the second position in the “Coin Classics” category.in it, the jury evaluated the coin matching the classic canons of the medal art. The face value of the coin is 100 roubles, the metal is sterling silver, the total weight is 1083.74 g, the diameter is 100.00 mm, the issue is 50 pieces.
Its authors were an artist of the Design Center of Goznak Elena Kramskaya, sculptors Alexandra Dolgopolova (obverse, reverse) and a people’s artist of Russia Alexander Baklanov (reverse).
“Just you wait” coin submitted by the Bank of Russia and struck at the Moscow Mint occupied the third position in the “Best Circulation Coin” category according to the jury’s decision. A relief image of a scene from the well-known cartoon is depicted on the coin reverse. The coin with the face value of 25 roubles is struck from copper-nickel alloy in the number of 450 thousand pieces. Its authors were artists of the Design Center of Goznak Elena Kramskaya (obverse) and Andrey Brynza (reverse), the sculptors were Alexandra Dolgopolova (obverse) and Maxim Titov (reverse).
“Tintoretto (Jacopo Robusti) creations” coin made at the Saint Petersburg Mint occupied the third position in the “Original Technology” category. The authors of the winning coin were artists of the Design Center of Goznak Elena Kramskaya (obverse) and Andrey Brynza (reverse), the sculptors were Alexandra Dolgopolova (obverse) and Andrey Brynza (reverse).
In this category, the jury evaluated the execution quality, the application of special technologies, finishing methods, unusual materials as well as how the chosen solutions helped to explore the topic of the coin. The 25-rouble coin was made of sterling silver in the number of 1000 pieces, its total weight is 169.00 g and the diameter is 60.00 mm.
Besides, Anton Schablykin, an artist of the Design Center of Goznak received the prize “For contribution to the development of the market of commemorative coins”. His works became laureates of international coin competitions, including “Coin Constellation”, many times.
