The State Order is completedThe Moscow and Saint-Petersburg Mints of Goznak have completed the State order for the production of the “70th Anniversary of the Great Patriotic War 1941 – 1945” jubilee medals. Over 2.5 million of medals have been minted.
According to the Decree of President of the Russian Federation about the “70th Anniversary of the Great Patriotic War 1941 – 1945” commemorative jubilee medal, the only executors of the order are Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Goznak” and Federal State Unitary Enterprise Center “Russkiye Remesla”.
During the process of the sketch preparation the artists received a task to make the new medal completely different to those struck for the previous jubilee dates. The tampon printing and the traditional for the mint products cold enamel are applied in the finishing of the jubilee medal basis.
The medals dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic war were produced of cupronickel.
There is a multicoloured image of the Token of the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st class on the front side of the medal. Between the bottom rays of the star there are “1945” and “2015” figures.
There is an inscription “70 лет Победы в Великой Отечественной войне 1945 - 2015” (“70 years of Victory in the Great Patriotic war 1945 - 2015”) in the center of the back side of the medal. The inscription is enframed with a laurel wreath with its branches tangled with a band in the bottom.
The medal edges are embordered with a skirting. All the images, inscriptions and figures on the medal are relief.
The red star on the medal is covered with enamel, the rest of the coloured components were applied with the help of the tampon printing method. The traditional cold enamel and the modern technology of tampon printing on the relief surface were applied together for such a great number of awards for the first time. The jubilee medal was born as a result of the combination of the modern complex technologies and handwork. The enamel artists of the mints applied enamel to every piece manually. Every medal was also hand-fixed to the block by the jewelers.
The quality of the awards produced at the mints is traditionally high. The experienced specialists control their own work at every stage; and at the final stage of production the ready awards undergo strict production control.
On the reverse of the medals produced at the mints of Goznak there is the label of the mint where the medal was manufactured.
